Your details, and what I do with them
The short version: I use your details to make your order, get it to you and keep in touch about it. Nothing else.
Who looks after your details
Blue Owl Homemade Candles, which is me, Lesley, in Conisbrough. If you have any questions, email me at blueowlhomemadecandles@outlook.com or message me on 07837 676623.
What I keep
When you order: your name, your phone number, your email address if you give it, your address if your order is being posted, the colours and notes you type, and what you ordered.
When you message me through the website: your name, how to reach you and what you wrote.
The website never asks for card details.
Why
To make your order, get it to you and keep in touch about it, to reply to your messages, and to keep the records a business has to keep for tax.
What I never do
No mailing lists, no marketing emails, no selling or passing on your details, and no tracking or advertising.
Who helps me run the shop
A few companies handle your details for me, only to do their one job:
- Resend sends the order and message emails.
- Vercel runs the website.
- Neon stores the order records, in London.
Some of these are American companies, and they protect your details under the UK’s rules for data sent abroad.
How long I keep things
Order records are kept for six years, because that is how long tax records have to be kept. Messages sent through the website arrive as emails and are kept only as long as I need them.
Cookies
This website has no tracking or advertising cookies, which is why you do not see a cookie banner. Your basket is saved in your own browser so it is still there when you come back, and it stays on your device until you order.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details I hold about you, have them corrected, or have them deleted, apart from anything I have to keep for tax. Just message me.
If you are unhappy with how I have looked after your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
How ordering and returns work is on the terms and returns page.
